The OneLapCamaro was designed and built to perform equally well on the road and track. Since the inception of the OneLapCamaro project, our goal has been to combine 1960’s muscle car styling with race car performance derived through the incorporation of contemporary technology and performance. Every aspect of the car’s design was evaluated to ensure that it represents the best possible balance of performance and packaging. The end result of the OneLapCamaro program is a unique and stylish muscle car that showcases the best products, engineering, and craftsmanship available today.
The OneLapCamaro was designed to combine the style and charisma of a ’67 Camaro RS with the performance and handling of a modern race car. From the start we have sought the ideal balance of form and function and a “no compromise” concept has served as the template through the design and building of the OneLapCamaro. To compete and succeed in the Cannonball One Lap of America and open highway competitions like the Silver State Challenge significant updates were required in the suspension, brakes, engine and transmission. To ensure driver comfort and safety during competition and between events, upgrades also needed to be made in the chassis and cockpit.

The rear suspension is a unique 3-link design by Lateral Dynamics LLC. This system was designed to allow maximum efficiency in the rear suspension in all driving environments. Unlike other suspension options, the 3-Link is designed to function without binding, no matter how aggressively the car is driven. With adjustable coil over  rear shocks, a bulletproof Ford 9” rear end, and 4-piston brakes in back, the rear suspension in the OneLapCamaro is ready for competition. |

The front subframe and suspension was likewise designed for maximum efficiency in any environment. American Touring Specialties has developed a combination of products and ideas that have transformed the OneLapCamaro’s original 1967 subframe into a race ready piece. The subframe has been fully reinforced and the suspension geometry has been optimized with a unique ATS designed coil over system that incorporates tubular control arms, dual adjustable coil over shocks, and AFX tall spindles. Massive 6-piston disk brakes provide incredible stopping power and a modern, custom-valved power steering box ensures unmatched steering response. |

All of this technology has been shoehorned into a fully rotisserie restored 1967 Camaro RS body. Over 2000 hours have been spent replacing and modifying panels that had been damaged by rust and abuse over the last 40 years. Carbon Fiber panels were incorporated to provide weight savings where possible and a unique paint and stripe combination give the car a classic but contemporary appearance.

The OneLapCamaro is powered by a custom built 427 cubic inch LS7 engine which has been custom built by Katech Engines to their Street Attack specifications. This all aluminum powerplant represents the best engine technology available today and combines horsepower and reliability to ensure success on and off the track. This increadible engine is backed by the “Son of Tranzilla”, a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission built by Rockland Standard Gear.

The end result of all of this is a car that will be driven – hard – on and off the track. Events like the Cannonball One Lap of America demand a balance of power and reliability and the OneLapCamaro has been designed to meet those demands head on. The unique format of the Cannonball One Lap of America included multiple competition events occurring at several different venues across the country with the requirement that the car be driven from event to event.

It is about bringing the interest and excitement of building and ultimately competing in a Pro-Touring themed Camaro to automotive enthusiasts around the world.
